The most widely deployed mobile virtualization solution
Intel, Nokia and the Linux Foundation chose MWC to announce the consolidation of Maemo and Moblin (both Linux-based mobile applications platforms) to form MeeGo, to be hosted by the independent Linux Foundation. MeeGo, like its legacy constituents, would target a range of mobile form factors – netbooks, web pads and also handsets – and provide a native open source alternative to proprietary iPhone and Java-style Android platforms.
Mobile virtualization provides an ideal deployment vector for the MeeGo platform, especially on ARM-based devices, where our OKL4 can enable side-by-side execution with Android, Symbian, Windows Phone, and other OSes.
