Ben Leslie leads a team of engineers in the areas of product design and development, testing, and implementation and delivery of the OKL4 product suite by the professional services team. He is responsible for overseeing the deployment team that provides project management and other professional services. Additionally, Ben manages the customer support organization.
Prior to joining OK at its creation, Mr. Leslie was a Senior Research Engineer at NICTA, having joined NICTA at its creation in 2003. Prior to that, he was a student at UNSW, where he conducted operating-systems research in Dr. Gernot Heiser's group.
Ben has designed and implemented a number of critical components of OKL4, including the root server (Iguana) and the API designs. Before that, he made research contributions on high-performance user-level device drivers, and on pre-virtualization as a technique for automating virtualization of high-performance operating systems.
Ben holds a dual degree in Computer Engineering (with first-class honors) and Arts from UNSW and won the CISRA prize for the best undergraduate thesis. Ben plays a leadership role in the Australian open-source community, facilitating exchange and dialogue at industry conferences.
