Open Kernel Labs, the leading provider of embedded virtualization software for mobile phones and broadband Internet devices was named one of nine worldwide finalists in the Global Security Challenge (GSC) 2010. OK Labs will compete in the GSC Midwest Regional Final as only one of three finalists. OK Labs will attend the GSC finals held at the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus on September 21, 2010, presenting their SecureIT Mobile security software solution. The GSC was created to find and select the most promising security technology startups in the world. OK Labs was selected from a record number of worldwide applicants to present their security solution for secure applications and communications, SecureIT Mobile.
The Global Security Challenge is the world's largest international security innovation competition and offers security entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their inventions. Six finalists, consisting of three start-ups and three small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), will compete for over $500,000 in cash grants. Two companies, consisting of one start-up and one SME, will advance to the final round of the competition in November, competing against eight other companies representing Europe, Asia and two other U.S. regional finals. The competition at UM-Dearborn was one of five regional competitions being held around the globe. It was sponsored in part by the Michigan Security Network, a consortium of security companies, universities and other opinion leaders.
