Steve Subar will present at the AusInnovate Conference in Sydney, discussing his strategies behind co-founding Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs).

Subar will discuss the key ingredients to starting and maintaining a successful spin-out. Subar gives attendees the opportunity to peek behind the curtain and learn the secret to starting a kick-ass company.

In 2005, Steve was selected to serve as the first entrepreneur-in-residence (EiR) for National Information & Communication Technology Australia (NICTA) and asked to determine which research projects would be ideal candidates for commercialization.

Using his expertise in the software industry, Subar quickly chose the Embedded, Real-Time & Operating Systems (ERTOS) program, headed by Gernot Heiser.

Along with Heiser, Subar was able to successfully commercialize the output of their research in virtualization and advanced microkernel technology.

Subar's leadership experience and commercial vision enabled the company to rapidly engage investors, add a team of experienced executives and grow a staff of talented engineers.
